What items should not be sent by courier?

There are some items that should not be sent by mail or courier services. These items are classed as ‘prohibited’ and include goods that are dangerous, illegal, counterfeit, stolen or prohibited from transportation under federal or state law.

It’s the shipper’s responsibility to comply with import and export regulations and laws, so before you ship, you should ensure that your item is not prohibited from transportation, either in the origin or destination country.

There are also certain goods that require a license for transportation and these should not be shipped via any of our courier partners. This includes (but it is not limited to) cannabis, cannabis derived products, tobacco, tobacco derived products and alcohol.

All packages are subject to inspection and our courier partners reserve the right to refuse items that are prohibited from transportation.

What’s the difference between restricted and prohibited items?

Prohibited items

Items that are classed as prohibited should not be shipped under any circumstances. Generally, a prohibited item is something that is dangerous or illegal. Liquids are also prohibited and should not be shipped.

Restricted items

Items that are classed as restricted, can be shipped, but will be carried on a no-compensation basis. This means the item is not eligible for protection cover so the shipper will not be able to make a claim in the event of loss or damage. Personal effects are classed as restricted.
