How should I pack my tent before shipping?

The key to simple shipping, whether the package is going to be shipped via a Ground service in the same country, or via Express courier overseas is ensuring the box is packed correctly and labeled clearly.

1. Ensure the flysheet, with all the ropes folded up inside, is rolled up to make it as compact as possible and then tied up.

2. For the main tent, lay it out flat on the ground and close all the tent zips up. Fold the outside parts up to make one compact piece and fold into the middle. Carefully and tightly roll up the tent and tie it up.

3. For the tent poles, collect them all and tie them tightly together and then wrap in bubble wrap ready for shipping.

4. Pegs, additional ropes and any other small bits and pieces should be put into a plastic bag and sealed.  

5. Tents generally come with a bag to store them in, so where possible put all the components in the bag and seal it up before you put into the box.

Once you have the tent and poles prepared, put into a new box ready to ship. Old boxes can be used but labels must be removed and the box must be strong and sturdy. Make sure there is no room for the tent to be moving around in the box by using internal cushioning. Label the box clearly with the delivery address and any customs documents if sending internationally.
